Stockholm: The objective for 2009
I was in Stockholm end of December last year when I had the idea of My World. My World is a simplistic world populated by males and females, which implement different behaviors like searching food behavior or like reproduction behavior. The idea is inspired by the excellent novel "The trouble with bubbles" written by Philip K. Dick. At one moment of the story, the author describes a scene where couple of people in a house were there to compete together to know which one of their respective artificial worlds was the most advanced. In the novel, the artificial worlds are transportable bubbles with some buttons, which give the possibility to their owner to interact with them and help them to grow. Of course My World as it is today is by far not as advanced as the worlds described in the novel, but maybe one day. My dream would be that My World becomes a popular project with a large community of users and developers and would have the necessary functionality to create personal artificial worlds like the ones described in the novel.
The main goal of My World for now is to promote Artificial Life and demonstrate the potential of this framework, not only to technicians but to everyone.
It is naturally that I called this project the Stockholm Project and it is not just about My World but as well about the functionality needed for mass deployment, functionality like the ones to view instances, to deploy instances or to upgrade instances.
All the functionality have been developed from scratch to be re-used in any other projects.
The objective for 2009 is achieved...
